Someone who needs no introduction anywhere in the Llynfi valley, is now His Worship the Mayor of Maesteg Town Council, Cllr Christopher Davies.
A renowned former local rugby player, Paper Mills worker, Chairman of Caerau Men’s Shed and former LSA at Nantyffyllon Primary School where the children idolised him, Cllr Davies is one of life’s ‘good guys.’ He is larger than life.
Today’s Civic Service was held at Dyffryn Chapel. The service was Conducted beautifully by Mrs Eirwen Thomas, supported by Pastor Paul Young, Christine Edmund, Rev Rick Grattan, Rev Lisa Spratt and organist Aled Williams.
Mrs Thomas gave a fitting address on the importance of service and humility or more importantly, humility when in service. Pinpointing the example of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet. The message was relevant to all who step up to serve and care for our community and everyone within it. Nobody is lowly and nobody is too mighty. A message as relevant today, as it was when written onto scrolls two thousand years ago.
A splendid buffet and refreshments were made all the more enjoyable by the excellent musical performances by the young people of Curtain Up. Yet another demonstration of the up-and-coming musical theatre talent in our valley.
Congratulations to His Worshipful Mayor and Mayoress, Mr Chris and Mrs Leida Davies. I wish both of you, along with the members and Officers of Maesteg Town Council and to all who serve in whatever capacity across the county of Mid Glamorgan - an enjoyable, impactful and successful year. I have an inkling it will be wonderfully eventful.
Llongyfarchiadau a phôb lŵc ar gyfer y flwyddyn i ddod.
