I attended a Eucharist Service at St. Michael's Church, together with many other parishioners from the Llynfi and Upper Afan Valley Ministry Area to say farewell to Rev Martyn Evans, Ministry Area Leader and my High Sheriff Chaplain.

As the Bible states: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11). Rev Martyn is taking up a new post in the Monmouth Diocese as a Team Vicar.

The service was followed by a reception in the crypt at St Michael's Church, where everyone had an opportunity to express their thanks and appreciation, for all Rev Martyn has done within his ministry through a difficult and challenging five years.

He made an immediate impact on his arrival. The term; "A breath of fresh air," was an oft used phrase across the entire plethora of parishioners. The wholesome atmosphere continued until the very end of the Reverend's tenure. The gratitude of all those who attended is testimony to this.

Thank you Rev Martyn Evans for all you have done.

Ps. Moving jobs doesn't let you off the hook as the High Sheriff's Chaplain!

In turn, we warmly welcome the Rev Rick Gratton who takes over as Leader of the ministry area. Rev Gratton was inducted in a joyful service on Thursday 24th June.

Best wishes and prayers to both in their new pastoral roles.

Hwyl fawr. Llongyfarchiadau!
