Well, tonight’s Charity Gala Concert was an incredible success that exceeded even the wildest of expectations in every way. Such was the quality on show, there were positive reviews and compliments aplenty from the capacity audience.
I cannot thank everyone enough for making the night's Charity Gala Concert such a resounding and enjoyable success.. There were stellar performances from Bridgend Male Choir, Noteworthy Mixed Choir and the incredibly talented tenor Rhydian Jenkins who I cannot thank enough for appearing and to his employers, Opera Köln for supporting Rhydian and allowing him to sing in his home town for the first time at the resplendent Maesteg Town Hall.
Particular thanks to Ryan Wood for so masterfully putting everything together. Beverley Humphreys MBE, for her extensive musical knowledge which allows her to expertly compere with such professionalism, passion and love for music.
We cannot forget the accompanists, backroom staff, Awen who are doing Maesteg proud - and all who attended to give their support. Llongyfarchiadau pawb.
A capacity audience and community support from my home-town. Two almighty elements that has made my quickly passing year as High Sheriff such a privilege, pleasure and true honour.
At the same time a very good cause, Dallaglio Rugby-Works, was supported. Rest assured young lives will be metamorphosed. All who supported each event will not know whose lives you have changed. Neither will the young people know who you are. Nevertheless, the magic of your kindness and support will continue for many years to come, through the positive changes to such young lives.
Mid-Glamorgan has many issues to confront. Possessing caring, supportive and energetic communities aren’t any of them. Tonight, combined with all I have witnessed over the last twelve months has been truly inspiring.
What a way to bring the curtain down on a wonderful blwyddyn arbennig. The pleasure and privilege has been entirely mine.
Diolch yn Fawr iawn, i chi gyd. Ymlaen.
