St. David famously said; “Look after the little things.” There are not many things smaller than the children of our nation and for over 140 years, the NSPCC has been the leading light in preventing child abuse in the country. Despite the many sociological changes, sadly the charity has never been in greater demand.
Today was an incredibly interesting morning at the NSPCC Cardiff Hub Offices, Fellow High Sheriffs of South Glamorgan, West Glamorgan and I were given a well organised overview of all the services provided by the charity, Child-Line and their Prenatal Support services.
The NSPCC undertakes an amazing array of work on behalf of our nation’s young people. Tirelessly trailblazing, what a magnificent job they have done for nearly a sesquicentennial.
The charity works with schools, provides much needed therapeutic services, established and maintain helplines, undertake ground-breaking research, provides guidance and support for families, campaign for change, promote participation strategies by listening to and working with children and young people, so they're involved in the decisions that affect them and support mams and dads who are apprehensive about their new arrival.
Sadly, the NSPCC is necessary, but let’s be thankful such a long-established and experienced organisation is available to look after the little things - our children.
Many thanks to Daniel O'Keefe and all the staff at NSPCC Cymru/Wales for a warm welcome and informative morning. Great people doing extraordinary work on behalf of young people.
