My year as High Sheriff is rapidly coming to a close. Of course, it has been an immense privilege to serve my home county of Mid-Glamorgan in this role.
Meeting fantastic individuals and groups who contribute to our community, witnessing their work and participating in the diverse activities that better all our lives, has been inspirational.
I once thought I had a good idea about what goes on within our communities. However, this past twelve months as High Sheriff of Mid-Glamorgan has meant every day is indeed, a learning day. So many groups exist and I truly hope the office of Sheriff has made others aware of their presence.
Tonight, the Mid-Glamorgan Lieutenancy Annual Dinner at Pyle Garden Centre, brought together Lord-Lieutenant Peter Vaughan myself, plus my successor Ms Sharon Dixon.
I wish Ms. Dixon a successful year. If her tenure and experiences provide just a fraction of the joy I have undergone, it will live with her for life.
Good luck for your entire year and especially for your Declaration on April 4th, it can be a nervous time - but just go with it, everything will go as planned.
