It was lovely to receive an invite from Headteacher Ms Jones, to attend the Plasnewydd Primary School’s Summer Fete. Not even the rain, could dampen the spirits of those who attended this afternoon. Everyone continued to have a good time.

This was a brilliant opportunity to meet a number of fantastic community groups. Guide Dogs, Cymru Tenovus Cancer Care Maesteg, Billys Gym & Wellness Centre, CIC SEN-sational Bonds - making a difference to people and young people's health, mental health and well-being. All magnificent people. All undertaking wonderful work.

As a former Plasnewydd pupil, I could not have been accompanied by a better person than High Sheriff Cadet and positive role model Billie Mia Hurley. Billie Mia’s Mam, Cadet leaders Geoff, Steve and PCSO Julie were also there.

Musical empresario and local celebrity Enid-Sian Hughes made an appearance to raise funds, as did the South Wales Constabulary, Tony Cox, plus Bridgend County Borough Councillor and Mayor Heather Griffiths, who happens to be mother of Headteacher Ms Jones!

Thank you so much for the invitation. It was great to meet our wonderful community groups. Long may they continue to serve and inspire.
