At the start of my tenure as High Sheriff, I decided to raise money to assist young people in need of guidance, to find a positive sphere in their lives. The medium chosen was rugby.
This afternoon I was at Nantyffyllon Rfc to see the work of Dallaglio RugbyWorks, the conduit through which the programme will be delivered.
Dan Ley and the team of coaches have wasted no time in working with young people from Maesteg Comprehensive School. Their programme of support at the school after our initial introduction a few months ago, has now received further interest and desire to engage further with the charity’s work within BCBC endorsement. I am grateful for the support Cllr. Jane Gebbie, Deputy Leader of Bridgend County Borough and Council Cllr Martyn Jones, Mayor of Bridgend County Borough
It was great to see the rugby programme in action and the active participation of the young people. Looking forward to attending further sessions in 2025 and hearing further on the progress and impact of the initiative. It would be fabulous if the young people involved were to find the motivation and embrace what the rugby community has to offer them.
Merry Christmas to all involved.
