On Thursday this week I attended the Wales Regional Meeting for High Sheriffs, High Sheriffs in nomination and former High Sheriffs in the beautiful setting of Llangoed Hall at Lllyswen.
This annual event is aimed at giving incoming High Sheriffs an idea of what the role involves, with a range of top tips from those of us currently in post. It also solidifies the supportive network of the Shrieval family.
The evening before we had dinner and a more informal catch up. Informative talks were given by Morfudd Meredith, Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, Mandy Thorne, Chair of National Crimebeat, Andrew Howell, HSA Council Member, Natalie Sandercock, Undersheriff for Gwent, and Rhian Moore, Scouts Chief Commissioner for Wales on 100th Anniversary of Scouts Cymru.
This meeting was also the last organised by Henry Gilbert Regional Coordinator for Wales - and an opportunity to thank him for his hard work over past years and to welcome Melanie James, current High Sheriff of West Glamorgan as his successor.
The current High Sheriffs made a joint presentation on the many aspects of the role, from our newly discovered personal experiences.
Many thanks to all for an enjoyable time and I hope the High Sheriffs in nomination enjoyed the event.
