This evening, I was the guest of Soroptimists International Bridgend branch for their New Year Celebration Dinner.
Soroptimists are part of an international women’s voluntary organisation who work to improve the lives of women and girls at a local, national and international level.
I received a very warm welcome from President Ruth Davies-Kemp, secretary Margaret Anthony, Sharon Dixon past Regional President and my successor as High Sheriff.
It was a pleasure to propose the toast to SI Bridgend. It proved an excellent evening and splendid dinner at Bridgend’s Masonic Hall.
A highlight of the evening was the significant donation to homeless charity Emmaus South Wales.
Entertainment was provided by Bryan Gunton a skilful magician that kept us guessing - on his magical performance!
Many thanks to all at SI Bridgend and for all the work you do with local women's refuge Llamau Bridgend and many, many more, supporting local women and girls in so many ways. Diolch yn Fawr Iawn.
After many years it was also great to meet up with the secretary's husband, Dr John Anthony - a GP colleague for many years. Great evening!
