The role of High Sheriff is intimately associated with Policing and the Criminal Justice System.
It was an absolute pleasure to attend the South Wales Police Awards Ceremony and witness the outstanding work, commitment, bravery, care, compassion and innovation the staff and officers of our local force undertake on a daily basis.
Three High Sheriffs of West, South and Mid Glamorgan were pleased to sponsor the Community Award.
Focussed on crime prevention, apprehending criminals and keeping the community safe, policing is by no means an easy job, and no organisation working in this area can always get things right - but last night's ceremony was able to highlight the best of the best, in practice and individuals.

Anyone can criticise our public services - but everyone should reflect on where our society would be without them.
