Tonight it truly was a privilege to attend a star studded evening at Heronstone Hotel and Spa.
The stars at this evening are the unique variety that shine all night and all day. They move among us and are the local community volunteers who do so many extraordinary things on behalf of others.
The Unsung Heroes Awards were so professionally organised by Bridgend Association of Voluntary Action, no stone was left unturned. Congratulations to you all on such an amazing job.
With supreme support from sponsors, many worthy nominees and award recipients were coveted for their magnificent work on behalf of many and varied communities. It was truly a honour to present some of the awards and immensely humbling to see and hear what these true giants within our community undertake.
Revealing an amazing array of stories of unique contributions, we heard how these 'stars' make positive differences to the lives of others and serve to strengthen our communities .
The short film clips of the nominees demonstrated their humility and selfless commitment to others.
Every morning, these people must look in the mirror and say to themselves: “What can I do today to make life better.” At the end of every day, I hope they can look in that same mirror and reflect on all the good they definitely do on a daily basis and feel justifiably proud.
